Project description.
TTK University of Applied Sciences, is inviting students to take part in a blended intensive program “Fundamentals of Modelling and Engineering Graphics”.
Applications are open until 09.02.2025.!
The program will happen both online and face-to-face, participants must attend all parts of the program:
• 17.03.2025. – 04.04.2025. remotely;
• 07.04.2025. – 11.04.2025. face-to-face activities in TTK.
Attending both online and face-to-face parts of the program, students will gain 3 ECTS, which can be acknowledged as a free elective (C*) part study course at RTU.
Who can take part: The course will be designed for Bachelor level Engineering students of Construction specialties, both daily and distance learners, as well as distance service training for specialists. Students from other fields with knowledge in CAD programmes are welcome. BIP is designed to train university students in modeling using CAD programs
There are 6 places allocated for this programme, students are chosen by ranking based on their compliance with aforementioned criteria, average weighted grade and prerequisites.
The student, who has passed the course:
has an overview of standards and knows how to handle reference materials;
knows the standards for the production of technical drawings and types of graphic images, owns the drawing technique;
knows how to read technical drawings with the necessary images and understand the current regulations;
knows what a building information model is and what it can be used for;
knows how to use basic model design software commands and knows how to model a simpler building;
knows how to save .dwg and .pdf drawings from the BIM model;
knows how to save the designed building in .ifc format and share it with other designers/project participants;
can use a model viewer (IFC model) and check model information;
is aware of model and quality control discrepancies and their capabilities;
understand the structure of the content of the model.
Students cover expenses related to travel, accommodation, meals with support from the BIP Erasmus+ grant. Students book their accommodation on their own, however it is worth asking the organizers if there are any places available at student dormitories.
By submitting application students apply for taking part in the project and also for the Erasmus+ scholarship. Scholarship will be provided for the face-to-face activity days. Scholarship for 5 days face-to-face program will be 545 EUR in total or 109 EUR per day. If the traveling to the host university takes place at least one day prior to the start of the program and returns – the next day after the program, there will be travel compensation for these 2 days (up to 218 EUR) after submitting documents confirming traveling dates. Additional funds are available to persons with different social statuses. Students are responsible for booking their own travel arrangements and accommodation.
Submit an application at OutgoingExchange.rtu.lv, uploading the RTU Transcript of records for all completed semesters, CV (in English), as well as any proof of English language skills and Study results transfer form.
Students will be able to participate only if they have confirmed the possibility to acknowledge/transfer BIP programme as C (or other) part study course. (Please confirm this with your academic advisor and programme director. Template in Latvian. Template in English .)
Applicants will be selected based on their average grade and overall criteria for participating in Erasmus mobilities, places are limited.

Please take into account these important rules:
- Two Erasmus scholarship periods can’t overlap!
- Students can participate in one BIP program only at the same time!
- Do not apply for another BIP program if both periods overlap!
- The full period of the BIP program means the full duration of the program – virtual learning + physical mobility!
- Students can’t combine the semester mobility and participation in BIP within the same period of time!
All participants must make sure that their participation will not cause issues in the ongoing semester courses at RTU (please confirm this with your lecturers and academic advisors).
